style observer: Fashion Week for my readers

For me the most interesting thing is to find out about anything that is wearable in real life. Cool makeup, haircuts and hairdos, outfits, colors, shoes, bags, accessories - anything that can actually be worn by a non-celeb. haute Couture is lovely to look at but not exactly relatable most of the time IMO. And even some ready-to-wear things are kind of out-there. Filter those out, and you have the stuff that is the most interesting and useful IMO.

I would love very specific recommendations. Like - see a pair of shoes that would translate well for normal people. Give us a link or two to a few real-life versions in reasonable price ranges and let us go for it.

I would also love some help understanding what we see. Why do they all wear clothing that almost no one would wear IRL. It is like in the hair salon when you see big photos of pointy pompadours and wonder, should that be inspiring me? What am I missing?

Oh, and let us know if the models look ok. If not, invite them to me for some ice cream each night. Or at least a healthy dinner.

I agree with your other readers. As far as accessories go, I'd like to see a few choice elements that are do-able for the non-famous, and pieces that are also versatile. My personal favorite that I'd like a line on are sweaters! Bulky or fitted? What kind of necklines? Layering is the thing now; is there life beyond the button-down?

    Great blog, Jean! You're my fashion 411 & 911!

I totally agree with everyone. Showcase what the common person can wear.
